Hope Cove (Original Painting)

I finished this piece in 2017 after undertaking a seascape painting course in Cardiff. I particularly enjoyed painting this piece as I was encouraged to experiment with texture paste. I mixed the paste with browns and yellows to create a hard, rocky texture similar to that of an actual rock. Then, I mixed the paste with titanium white to try and capture the splashy effect of the waves as they crashed into the rocks, almost jumping out of the painting. It was great fun, though I haven't tried this technique again since.

This piece was featured in an exhibition at Poltimore Festival in 2018 as part of my series on the senses. If you are interested in purchasing this piece, I would recommend putting it in a good frame as this was originally painted on sketchbook paper (A3), so isn't as sturdy as a canvas.
